After watching the social and political theater of the last half-dozen years, I’ve decided an easy way to characterize people is by their moral compass: Do they appear to have one, and if so, what is their North Star?

This topic is way too complex to tackle in a single post.  But as the concept dawned on me,  I was forced to ask, “Where does mine point?”

I decided that my North Star is kindness, my guiding principle in all interactions with both others and myself.  My eastern co-ordinate (how I interact with others) is generosity, the giving of time and money and patience.   My western co-ordinate (introspection) is intellectual integrity. I cannot rationalize nor lie to myself.

And my southern pole, the diametrical opposite of my North Star, is meanness. I cannot suffer anyone who demeans another living being.
