…disappointed by our friends, disappointed by our lovers, by our families, our churches or political party, and even by our country. It’s because we expect too much. We forget that everyone else is as human as we are.

It’s worth remembering that others are motivated by the same things that motivate each of us…the same greed, anger, hunger, lust, joy and sadness, love and hate, egotism, tribalism, and self-interest.

If we could keep that in mind, our differences may be no easier to accept, but they’d be easier to understand. That would at least be a start…
