I never seem to get the memo…
So, I’m at a huge sidewalk art fair in downtown Madison, Wisconsin…many blocks long, booths down both sides of wide, closed streets circling the capitol building. I’m walking and walking, looking at art and...

The gravity of this topic merits further thought, but I’m not sure how to frame the discussion. I suspect few seriously consider what it would mean to live who and what you are, and fewer would consider it possible....

Here is my model for my inner self. When I turn inward, I see two individuals. Call them whatever: left and right, doer and dreamer, Frankie and Johnnie…it doesn’t matter. What does matter is that they are very...

Most of us know the proverb about the two dogs within us, the good and the bad. We could grow into either. It depends on which we feed. Whether or not it’s that simple, a few things are true enough. Emotions arise from...

To become whole, we need to recognize that we do not consist of a single “self,” but of several selves. Only in the most advanced of individuals are they in harmony with one another. Instead, they most likely are in...

…I would want to teach them two thIngs. First, I would want them to find out who they are and to be that person, to act always in ways congruent with that person, regardless of pressures of temptations to do otherwise. And...

I’m sitting in my living room and my eye falls on the back of a small rocking chair…dark oak, carved (not pressed), a small nursing rocker I found long ago. I’ve given it away twice, and both times has found it’s way back...

Two nights ago I had a dark and lonely dream. Vague now, but it centered on my father’s garden, an anchor of my childhood home. At the beginning of the dream, my family and I worked that garden…turning the soil,...

I pointedly avoid political content on this site. But the political environment of any era is fodder for a student of human motivation. And in today’s increasingly inflammatory scene, considering the drivers behind...

I found a surprising bit of substance in a piece of escape fiction last week. Laurence Shames, in “Scavenger Reef,” tells of the death of Augie Silver, one of those rare individuals who are effortlessly successful in...

You can use this page to explore all my posts. You can search in three ways: (1) Click the Category that interests you; (2) Use the Search Box that appears below the list of Categories; or (3) Use the Archives below the Search Box.
Frankly, if you are looking for something specific, the Search Box is your better bet. Appropriate Categories are hard to develop, and they are sometimes arbitrary and inconsistent. Using Search, you can query on any term you choose.
Unfortunately, when you click on a specific post, it will bounce you to a different page to read it. You will have to use your browser's Back feature or the upper Menu to return here. Sorry, it's a limitation of this Wordpress theme.
Also, this theme does not truncate posts when you use the Search box. The result can be a long string of full length posts, which is cumbersome and confusing. I'll continue trying to resolve this issue.
Thanks for your interest.
